What is Team Bucket?

This is the second year that we get together to run and hang out at Bucket Brewery. Team Bucket is a way to train for the very fun Craft Beer 5K in July. We have a Couch-to-5K plan to ease beginners into running, as well as plenty of seasoned runners. We get together weekly for a group run, then enjoy a social hour back at the brewery.

Who can join?

Runners (and non-runners) of all skill levels are welcome to join in! We’re doing this for fun (and to beat Foolproof)… but mostly for fun. As long as you want to spend time with a great group of people and drink some good beer, you’re welcome!

Cool, how do I sign up?

Just show up at the brewery! Group runs will be held every Tuesday at 6pm, starting on April 7th. Runs are free, but I ask that anyone staying for the social hour chip in $2 per run. At your first social hour you’ll get a Team Bucket cup to use at the brewery. High quality Team Bucket running shirts will be available for $20.

What is the Craft Beer 5K?

It’s simple… you run (or walk) a 5K race, then enjoy a great beer festival. This year the Craft Beer 5K will be held at Fort Adams in Newport on July 18. More info is available at http://craftbrewraces.com/newport/

Training Calendar

Week 1: April 7

Meet at Bucket Brewery at 6pm for the group run.

Beginners Program

Tuesday Group Run: Jog one minute, then walk one minute. Repeat 10 times.
Thursday: Jog one minute, then walk one minute. Repeat 10 times.
Saturday: Jog one minute, then walk one minute. Repeat 10 times.

 

Week 2: April 14

Meet at Bucket Brewery at 6pm for the group run.

Beginners Program

Tuesday Group Run: Jog 90 seconds, then walk one minute. Repeat 10 times.
Thursday: Jog 90 seconds, then walk one minute. Repeat 10 times.
Saturday: Jog 90 seconds, then walk one minute. Repeat 10 times.

 

Week 3: April 21

Meet at Bucket Brewery at 6pm for the group run.

Beginners Program

Tuesday Group Run: Jog one minute, then walk 30 seconds. Repeat 10 times.
Thursday: Jog one minute, then walk 30 seconds. Repeat 10 times.
Saturday: Alternate jogging and walking for 30 minutes.

 

Week 4: April 28

Meet at Bucket Brewery at 6pm for the group run.

Beginners Program

Tuesday Group Run: Jog two minutes, then walk one minute. Repeat 10 times.
Thursday: Jog 10 minutes.
Saturday: Jog one minute, then walk 30 seconds. Repeat 10 times.

 

Week 5: May 5

Meet at Bucket Brewery at 6pm for the group run.

Beginners Program

Tuesday Group Run: Five minute warm-up walk, one mile jog, five minute cool-down walk.
Thursday: Jog two miunutes, then walk one minute. Repeat 10 times.
Saturday: Jog 10 minutes, then walk 10 minutes.

 

Week 6: May 12

Meet at Bucket Brewery at 6pm for the group run.

Beginners Program

Tuesday Group Run: Run one minute, then jog one minute. Repeat 10 times.
Thursday: Run one minute, then jog 30 seconds. Repeat 10 times.
Saturday: Jog 10 minutes, then walk 10 minutes.

 

Week 7: May 19

Meet at Bucket Brewery at 6pm for the group run.

Beginners Program

Tuesday Group Run: Run two minutes, then jog one minute. Repeat 5 times.
Thursday: Run two minutes, then jog one minute. Repeat 5 times.
Saturday:  Jog 15 minutes, then walk 15 minutes.

 

Week 8: May 27 (Wednesday Meetup)

Meet at the North end of Blackstone Blvd. for the Rhode Runner free 5k! There will be no Tuesday group run.

Beginners Program

Wednesday Group Run: Free 5K on Blackstone.Run, walk or crawl to the finish!
Thursday: Run three minutes, jog two minutes. Repeat eight times.
Saturday: Run two minutes, jog one minutes. Repeat ten times.

 

Week 9: April 7

Tuesday Group Run: Jog one minute, then walk one minute. Repeat 10 times.
Thursday: Jog one minute, then walk one minute. Repeat 10 times.

Thursday: Run five minutes, walk/jog 2.5 minutes. Repeat four times.
Saturday: Run five minutes, walk/jog 2.5 minutes. Repeat four times.

 

Week 11: June 9

Meet at Bucket Brewery at 6pm for the group run.

Beginners Program

Tuesday Group Run: Jog easy for 30 minutes.
Thursday: Run two minutes, jog 30 seconds. Repeat 10 times.
Saturday: Jog 25 minutes.

 

Week 12: June 16

Meet at Bucket Brewery at 6pm for the group run.

Beginners Program

Tuesday Group Run: Jog easy for 30 minutes.
Thursday: Run three minutes, jog one minute. Repeat 10 times.
Saturday: Jog 20 minutes.
